Will prologium build a new battery factory in France?

(AFP) Taiwanese battery maker Prologium said Friday it will invest billions of dollars in building a new factory in northern France for its first European plant.

ProLogium, an energy innovation company specializing in R&D and manufacturing of next-generation solid-state battery solutions for electric vehicles, has chosen France as the location for its first large-scale solid-state battery manufacturing facility outside of Taiwan.

Where will prologium's first European battery factory be built?

As previously leaked, the Taiwanese solid-state battery cell manufacturer’s first European factory will be built in the northern French port city of Dunkerque. ProLogium will invest the aforementioned €5.2 billion to build a 48-GWh factory and research and development center there.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024, and production is expected to start at the end of 2026. So far, ProLogium produces its solid-state batteries in Taiwan, where the production is only designed for a capacity of 3 GWh.
